We departed Kfar HaNokdim before the first light of dawn in order to hike to the top of Masada to experience sunrise there. Although I was grateful for an excuse to get in some cardio on the trip, the best part of ascending to the top was what came next...an incredible sunrise in near-silence even though our group was one of many on top of the cliffs. There is something to be appreciated in those moments of absolute quiet, in a place where the story is one of ultimate sacrifice. It certainly makes you consider "What do I value most and care about most in my life, and am I willing to die for it?"
I am beginning to believe I'll have more questions than answers leaving this incredible country, and am excited for this urge to continue my education.
